In the first sermon of Prayer Week, we turn to Matthew 17. After Jesus returned from the Mount of Transfiguration, He was met by a distraught father with a demon-possessed son. Though Jesus’ disciples had been called and commissioned to carry on Jesus’ ministry, they were unable to deliver the boy because of the “smallness of their faith.” They reveal what is true in every age of Christian history: true success in ministry, and all of life, depends on our cultivation of humble faith.
